Spanish Industrial Vehicle garages value repair and equipment brands’ quality and service over price

Industrial vehicle repair professionals prefer parts and machinery brands that match the expectations of their clients, fleets, and self-employed workers, people that want to regain vehicle mobility in the shortest time possible and with the reassurances of reliability guarantees. Price is an important, but secondary factor. This is one of the main conclusions of the study “The most valued parts and machinery brands by Industrial Vehicle garages”, carried out by The Hub Automotive Insights. This study interviewed 257 businessmen from industrial vehicle garages, out of a total of 1.773 garages, that, according to the consulting company, exist in Spain. The results will be the base of the 2019 Industrial Vehicle Quality and Service of the Plural After-sale Awards. These awards include which brands are preferred by industrial vehicle garages in 65 different product categories and also in the “Quality and Service” and “Brand that surprises” areas.

“Avoiding premature or unexpected breakdowns, which might compromise the normal functioning of a vehicle conceived to be always on the move, spending the least possible amount of time immobilized in the garage. This is what fleet managers, self-employed workers and transportation professionals expect from their trusted mechanic. That is why, when it is time to choose the parts and equipment used to repair this type of vehicle, the preferences of the industrial vehicle professionals, while factoring in the price, go with the brands that are considered as high quality and that have the best service proposal of the market”, according to Enrique Gómez. He is the author of the study that supports the “Quality and Service in the Industrial Vehicle After-sale Awards: the value of parts and machinery brands” and also is the technical director of The Hub Automotive Insights.

We are talking about a Spanish industrial vehicle repair market that would have generated, according to The Hub, a global turnover over 3.027 million euros in 2018. “In total, more than 2,91 million work orders with an average ticket of 1.037,43 euros per repair. This data supports the important role that the industrial vehicle specialized garage holds as an influencer in this segment of automotive after-sale”, adds Gómez, Market Research professor at the University of Valladolid and specialist in automotive after-sale studies.

“Transportation professionals trust their repair professional to choose the needed part. That is why the garage does not prefer the most inexpensive repair and equipment brands to fix and maintain their clients’ industrial vehicle, but the most competitive ones, which start at a high level of quality and service”, he adds.

The results of the study that backs the “2019 Quality and Service in the Industrial Vehicle After-sale Awards: the most valued parts and machinery brands by the industrial vehicle garage” come from the brand perception study carried out by The Hub Automotive Insights amongst garages specialized in industrial vehicles located all across the country. The reference point has been the 1.773 garages specialized in repair and maintenance of heavy duty vehicles, obtained from the official statistics by INE (National Statistics Institute) and The Hub Automotive Insights own database. It is the voice of the industrial vehicles repair garages: their sovereign opinion.

The field work took place between June and July. In this period, 257 industrial vehicle professionals, responsible of garage management or in charge of parts and machinery purchases, took this survey. They were asked which are the brands, within 65 different product categories, that, according to them, offer the most quality and service in the Spanish market. They were also asked which brands have pleasantly surprised them during the last year, even if they were not the ones with the most quality and service. Those are the two categories in which one brand could be chosen: “Quality and Service” and “Brand that surprises”.
